Hari Ram Kohli was born in Maharashtra on 13 June 1953. He fractured his spinal column while doing gymnastic exercise. He was paralysed from the neck down, resulting in a quadriplegic condition. In 1978, he started teaching himself to draw and to paint with his mouth. He earned his living by painting greeting cards with his mouth.
Mr Kohli had sold more than 5000 original paintings and had several exhibitions. His themes vary from flowers, animals and the most important, Indian village scenes. Indian life and its nativity were well captured by Mr Kohli. He’s been a member of MFPA since 1983. Mr Kohli passed away in 2011.
