Today masks have become an important part of everyone’s life all around the globe. Life without masks seems unimaginable today. Even before the world started to enjoy the new year of 2020, a pandemic was declared in the early months of the year, in March 2020.

A new virus outbreak was recorded with a dramatic and drastic spreading and transmission speed from person to person The virus was identified as the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) it began in China in 2019. The disease is called coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The international World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a global pandemic in March 2020 and almost the entire world went under locked down. The biggest ever holidays began for schools, colleges, educational institutions, offices, MNCs, etc. with the reopening date never known.

Soon with accelerated researches, the virus’s source, prevention, causes and transmission was studied and identified. The virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) mainly spreads from person to person among those in close contact (within about 6 feet, or 2 meters). The virus spreads by respiratory droplets released when someone infected with the virus coughs, sneezes or talks. These droplets are often inhaled or land in the mouth or nose of an individual nearby. With the current horrifying scenario and the dramatic spread of the virus, everyone must take necessary precautions and do their best.

For general protection social distancing, wearing a mask and washing hands frequently is being prescribed at all times. And within view of the current scenario when the world is ready to lose its grips on the lockdown and slowly one step at a time people are moving towards their normal lifestyles it is very essential that we do this with necessary precaution. It is extremely important that we wear masks at all times when out of home and in public places. Now since masks are a part of our everyday lives it is also very important that masks be something that attracts people to wear them and that can only when masks are designed to look stylish while giving the necessary protection.

How does a mask protects you from Coronavirus

Public health groups, including the U.S. Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and WHO, are continuously monitoring the global pandemic that’s threatening the entire global. These organisations are regularly posting updates on their websites for preventing the spread of the virus, and other updates regarding the deadly virus.

The virus that causes COVID-19 is principally transmitted through droplets generated when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or exhales. The infected virus droplets are too heavy to be in the air, and quickly fall on floors or surfaces nearby because of their weight.

One is likely to get infected by inhaling the virus if you are within close proximity of somebody who has COVID-19, or by touching a contaminated surface then your eyes, nose or mouth. Coronavirus or Covid-19 has taken the world in its terrifying grip and everyone is trying every way possible to keep themselves protected against the novel coronavirus.

Coronavirus spreads from one person to the other when one comes in contact either with a infected person or with something that has been infected by the infected person. The best way to prevent and hamper transmission are also prescribed by WHO. You can easily be protected from infection by washing hands frequently or using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching your face.

The best ways to avoid this infection is by maintain distance, wearing a mask and washing hands frequently. Wearing a mask limits the transfer of infected droplets from one person to another by 90-95% even if you talk to an infected person!
The layers and material of the masks in close knit and weaved in a way that the droplets and of the infectious diseases will not reach you through theses masks. Hence, masks are necessary to avoid covid-19 virus.

Importance of face masks for all

Since it is almost a year since the first virus case was recorded and we still do not have a perfect vaccination, at this point, only prevention is better than cure. And wearing a mask at all times is the safest and best form of protection one can have.

Using masks in public reduces the spread from people who don’t have symptoms. Non-medical cloth masks are recommended for the public and common layered masks are to be used. Kids, adults, elders, and people of age groups and genders are recommended to wear face masks in public.

What is Coronavirus or COVID-19?

Coronavirus disease also known as COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. This covid 19 virus has taken the world by a storm, it spreads like wild fire and more than half of the population has been affected by the virus.

Corona-viruses are a bunch of related RNA viruses that have been identified to cause diseases in mammals and birds. In humans and birds, they cause respiratory tract infections that will range from mild to lethal. Mild illnesses in humans include some cases of the cold while more lethal varieties can cause SARS, MERS, and COVID-19. In cows and pigs they cause diarrhoea, while in mice they cause hepatitis and encephalomyelitis.

People infected with the COVID-19 virus experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring any special treatment. Older people and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness and many with an underlying illness are also losing their live to the virus.

Steps and measures to prevent Coronavirus

To prevent the spread of COVID-19 it has been prescribed by WHO and almost all goverments and health officials and experts around the word to wash hands frequently using soap ad water for 20 seconds at least or an alcohol-based hand rub.

Social distancing to be practicised and maintain a safe distance from anyone who is coughing or sneezing. Necessarily wearing a mask when physical distancing is not possible. Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth without washing your hands.

Cover your nose and mouth along with your bent elbow or a tissue once you cough or sneeze. Stay home if you feel unwell. If you’ve got a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention immediately. Calling beforehand allows your healthcare provider to quickly direct you to the proper clinic. This protects you, and prevents the spread of viruses and other infections.

Masks help prevent the spread of the virus from the person wearing the mask to others. Masks alone don’t protect against COVID-19, and will be combined with physical distancing and hand hygiene. Follow the recommendation provided by your local health authority. Hence buying a mask for everyday use is extremely necessary if you have to step out of your house frequently.
