Art by A. Carina Verster
Mouth Artist from South Africa
After a car accident in 1975, Anna C. Verster was left paralyzed from a spinal injury in her arms and legs.
Since then she has been confined to a wheelchair. After this accident, she turned to mouth painting. In 1978 she received a grant from the association. In 1986 she became a full member of VDMFK. In her pictures, Anna C. Verster describes the scenery of the South African landscape. Popular motifs include the steppe areas, the bush or harbor bays. She
also shows a special fondness for still lifes. She has often been able to bring her numerous works to the attention of a broad public by participating in exhibitions. She also regularly gives lectures on mouth painting at events. She usually associates this with a painting demonstration. Before her accident, Anna C. Verster attended and graduated from high school. She then worked as a music teacher. That’s
why music still means a lot to her today. Her other hobbies include gardening and relaxing with her friends.
