Born on November 6, 1969, in Lichtenburg, South Africa, Chris Opperman’s life took an unexpected turn after a fall in 1989 left him with a cervical spine injury. Although initially uninterested in painting, during his therapy, he was introduced to art through a polystyrene figure and a brush. It wasn’t until 1992, after moving to a home for tetraplegic individuals, that he discovered his passion for mouth painting by observing other residents. Specializing in oil painting, Chris’s favorite subjects include landscapes, animals, and people, all of which reflect the beauty of his homeland.
