Maira Valderrama

Maira Isabel was born on 5 November 1976 in Valparaiso. Prior to her car accident in 1996, she occupied a leading position in TV productions in Chile. However, after the accident, she has been paralysed neck down. Shortly after the accident, she made her first attempt to paint with the mouth. She took great pleasure in it and immediately enrolled for an oil painting course in a well-known art school in her region.

The artist soon made significant progress. In 1999 Maira became a Scholarship Holder by the association. Since 2011, she became an Associate Member of AMFPA. Today, Maira uses the tempera painting technique. Her favourite themes include people and portraits. The mouth painter has been able to present her works to a wide public in numerous nationwide exhibitions.
